Denture care

Dentures are the artificial  teeth designed to fit in your mouth where you lack the teeth. Dentures can be complete or partial. Complete denture is the total set of teeth of full mouth. Partial denture is either a single tooth, single covering crown or small chain of teeth and crowns (hollow shaped covering teeth), which fills only the empty spaces where your teeth is absent. They can also be either temporary, which can be taken off easily by yourself or permanent, which can only be removed by the dentist. Taking proper care of these artificial items so as to increase their life and to make your oral health remain at best condition is called denture care.

How do we make dentures in our clinic?

At Divya Smile Dental Care Clinic, Kathmandu, we take the impressions of the teeth and gums of our clients, which provides necessary measurements for making precise dentures that fit in your mouth. The measurement are taken multiple times if required. The measurements are sent to our special denture making units. They prepare a model and we use it to get approval from the client whether to make denture as per the model or not. After approval of the model real denture is made with the exact measurements and arrangement similar to the model. Teeth are made from acrylic resin or ceramics or porcelain while the gums are made from soft acrylic. Sometimes partial dentures are hold by metal frame in order to provide strength and stability to partial denture. The metal frame are made to fit behind the gums and are totally safe and comfortable.

When should you make it?
When you break or lose your teeth due to accidents, external injuries, natural ageing, any kind of infection or due to condition of worst cavity in multiple teeth then your mouth cannot function properly, chewing food becomes tough and you also lose your beauty too. Things to be careful at:

Dentures, depending on their type, should be handled with proper care like your own teeth, so that they remain at their best condition.
Complete removable dentures and some partial removable dentures should be removed before going to sleep.
They should be brushed properly just like our natural teeth but they should not be brushed too hard which can damage them.
Fixed dentures can sometimes come off due to various reasons. If your fixed dentures come off, you should immediately visit us and get it restored.

Fixed Partial Dentures (FPD):
